The links listed here are websites I have personally found helpful or interesting. They range from hobbyist sites focusing on a single species or genera to large university and museum databases.

Salamanders and Newts

  • Axolotls - John Clare's authoritative site devoted entirely to axolotls. If you need axolotl information, look no further.

  • Caudata.org -

  • The salamander and newt information portal. It boasts the internet's largest online community forum for newt and salamander enthusiasts and hosts several related websites such as Caudata Culture and the Cryptobranchid Interest Group.
  • Caudata Culture - The premier source of information for the salamander and newt hobbyist, this superb site provides science-based care information submitted by enthusiasts from around the world. It features an exhaustive FAQ, informative articles, caresheets, and enormous collection of salamander photographs.  

  • Cryptobranchid Research Group - A website devoted to the conservation of hellbenders and Asian giant salamanders.

  • Cynops Registry - Paul Bachhausen's registry for the conservation and preservation of captive Cynops species. The German version of his site provides information for several European salamander registries/workgroups.

  • Dutch Urodela Society - Official site in Dutch. Great information and photos for many species.

  • The Green Salamander - A site devoted entirely Aneides aeneus.

  • Henk Wallays' Website - Henk's personal website features his always interesting Urodela Newsletters and tons of beautiful photographs of his various animals and fieldtrips.

  • Swedish Salamandrid Registry - Jesper Danielsson's registry for Swedish newt enthusiasts.

  • United States Caudate Registry - A resource for U.S. hobbyists interested in  promoting captive breeding and preserving captive lineages.

 

Frogs and Toads

  • The Amargosa Toad - A website for Bufo nelsoni information and conservation.

  • Dart Den - A dart frog information resource featuring care information, FAQs, and a very active forum.

  • Dwarf Frog Central - David Cecere's page devoted to Hymenochirus frogs. 

  • Mantella-conservation.org - Calling all kitchen conservationists! This website is for people wishing to participate in the conservation and captive breeding of Mantella.

  • Pipidae.net - A large forum for keepers of African dwarf clawed frogs, African clawed frogs, and Surinam toads.

  • Project Golden Frog - A site devoted to the conservation of the Panamanian golden frog, Atelopus zeteki.

  • Xenopus Express - A site which supplies several species of captive bred Xenopus and Pipa. 

  • Yeager's Frogs - Justin Yeager's website featuring information on his frog conservation research and fantastic photos of tropical frogs and their natural habitat.

 

General Amphibian 

  • Amphibians and Reptiles of Europe - A superb photobase of European amphibians and reptiles.

  • AmphibiaWeb - A fantastic amphibian database run by the University of California, Berkeley. It features species accounts of many amphibians and a huge collection of photos from around the world.

  • California Reptiles and Amphibians - Promoting awareness, appreciation, and understanding of California's indigenous reptiles and amphibians and their natural habitats.

  • The Center for North American Herpetology - Information resource for North American herpetology.

  • Herplit.com - Resource for herpetological literature.

  • Livingunderworld - Jessica Miller's beautiful site dedicated to the preservation of wild and captive amphibians. It features a wide variety of information on amphibians ranging from their conservation to their captive care as well as free member photo galleries.

  • Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles -  a not-for-profit organization established to advance research, conservation, and education concerning amphibians and reptiles.
